Self-beautification and personal development have been in existence since time immemorial. It is human nature to be drawn to beauty and to beauty that stands out.
During the 6000 BC era, Egyptians are recorded in history as the first group of people who practiced wearing dark and heavy cosmetics as this was the markings of royalty. In the 1800’s cosmetics in the USA and Europe were not common and a woman was considered beautiful if she had pale skin. The paler the skin, the prettier she was. This standard of beauty persisted into the early 1900s, until cosmetics entered the market and Hollywood emerged into the scene. Since then, self-beautification and how beauty is measured have never been the same. We are now in an era where beauty can be drastically enhanced regardless of your race, gender, and financial status.
In today’s world, cosmetic surgery has become one of the most popular trends. Redefining one’s appearance appeals to both men and women. Everyone is uniquely created, and as the saying goes, “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.” Each person is entitled to their own perception and definition of what is beautiful. Science, paired with technology, has advanced significantly, helping bridge the gap between the desire for an ideal appearance and turning it into reality. Through social media and mainstream media, the world has witnessed the success of those who have embarked on nerve-wracking, life-changing transformations. No matter how transformative beauty may be judged by others, whether harshly or with admiration, what truly matters is the confidence and happiness that come from achieving your desired appearance. The risks may be high, but the rewards have proven to be genuinely worthwhile. Gaining the confidence to feel beautiful in your own skin makes the entire journey worth it.
